A little bit of the studio, tucked into an envelope.
For September, I’m sending a collection of studio ephemera through the mail: small pieces of artwork, paper, color, poetry, and prompts gathered from different corners of my creative practice.
Each letter will include:
a small original artwork or an artwork-turned-bookmark
a piece of mulberry paper
a Pantone color postcard
a color poem worksheet
a color memory worksheet
The color poem and color memory activities were originally developed to accompany artwork I made during my Kimball Arts Center residency. Writing poems and collecting color memories are both part of how I make and think about my work, so these worksheets are an invitation to work like me for a minute — to look closely at a color, see what it brings to mind, and put some of that thinking into words.
I’m also clearing out my collection of envelopes and stamps, so each letter will arrive in a blue, green, or kraft brown envelope with a variety of stamps.
No two letters will be exactly alike, but each one will contain a little collection of things I’ve made, loved, saved, or found useful in my own creative practice.
