For July, I am excited to share a month-long collaboration with fellow Chicago creative and photographer Linn Edvardsen.
Each day, I’ll pull one postcard from Linn’s collection of Chicago skyline photographs and write a new poem inspired by the image. No two days will be the same. The photograph becomes the prompt, the poem becomes the letter, and together they create a record of changing light, shifting weather, and the many moods of the city.
Linn has photographed this same view every single day through changing seasons, shifting weather, and countless sunrises—returning again and again to the same place and finding something new each time. The sky never repeats itself. The light is never quite the same twice.
I’ve loved following her daily practice and the attention she brings to this one corner of the world—how showing up in repetition becomes a way of noticing difference.
